essential.)

The present round of reservations will be finished by mid-July.
In addition to substantial content, page format, and behind-the-scenes code revisions, a slightly smaller type size is being used. At the same time, we have broken up many blocks of text into multiple paragraphs. This approach is designed to make the text more "approachable."
In doing the revisions some punctuation errors and typos were found and corrected, the modules were updated, and numerous illustrations were upgraded.*
Although we are switching from HTML to XHTML coding in all of the modules, this behind-the-scenes change should be invisible to users -- while allowing for a special version of the modules for cell phone and BlackBerry-type screens. This should be finished by the Fall term and we'll have more information on this option later.
In late March a new page format was introduced. If you have a relatively recent browser, you will see a number of changes. Very old browsers without style sheet support will render headings extremely large.
If you see a background graphic -
things should be fine.
If you see huge type above and no background graphic, you will need to upgrade your browser.
Excellent browsers are free for the downloading from Netscape , Microsoft , Mozilla Firefox , Opera , and Safari .
If you encounter any problems, please let me know at InternetCollege@copper.net.
In order to get through heavy spam filtering you
must use a subject line of MAIL FROM INTERNET CAMPUS or MAIL FROM
CYBERCOLLEGE.
s part of the TV Production revisions a new menu system was installed on the Index page that is designed to make navigation to the many modules and readings a bit easier.
Although the new menus should work with all Java-equipped browsers, in some cases you may need to hover over your selection for a moment or two. In case you have problems with the new system you can either use a link on the page to go to the old menu system or click on inks provided to bring up non-java versions.
The associated readings are now grouped and alphabetized, which should make it easier to find them.
The instructor information has been revised. Included is something new, "Teaching Tips and Talking Points," covering each of the modules. The URL for these and the supplementary tests is available to qualified instructors by writing the author.
uring the last revision process some errors were found in the test, word square and crossword puzzle links at the bottom of a few modules. These have (hopefully) all been fixed.
One the advantages of Internet materials is that, unlike textbooks, they can be regularly revised to keep in step with the constant changes in the audio and video fields. Errors can also be fixed as soon as they are spotted. We would like to thank Chris Colin Swanson who most recently brought a number of typos, ambiguous sentences, etc., to our attention.
t one point there was an error in some e-mail links, which may explain why you didn't get an answer to your e-mail. For e-mail please use InternetCollege@copper.net.
IMPORTANT NOTE:Again, in order to get through heavy spam filtering you must use a subject line of MAIL FROM INTERNET CAMPUS or MAIL FROM CYBERCOLLEGE. This should be automatic when you use the e-mail link at the bottom of the pages.
mong the changes recently made was the addition of scroll arrows at the bottom-right of the screen, which (by mousing over them) allow for controlled scrolling up and down the page. These are based on Java, which must be enabled for them to be visible and to work. (They should be visible on this page.)
ome
firewalls, such as ZoneAlarm, shut off animated images. This will affect some images on this site. (The dove on the left should be flyingalthough not necessarily getting anywhere.)
In ZoneAlarm animation can be restored by going to Privacy , Ad blocking, Custom, and uncheck the box animation . Other firewalls and browsers have similar options.
he interactive Quick Quizzes require a relatively recent browser with Java enabled. When you click on Quick Quiz at the bottom of the modules you should see two rows of blocks.
With the help of the left key of a mouse you can drag the blocks on the right to the matching phrases on the left.
As a security precaution Internet Explorer browsers may have Java turned off. If so, you will see a page without the blocks. By clicking on "allow blocked content" at the top of the IE browser these should become visible. Netscape and Firefox browsers don't seem to have this issue.
any instructors and students liked the word square key term puzzles that we used to have. They could be printed out and handed to students to complete. They were dropped when they became out of date. The word squares are available again and basic information is available here
.
For security reasons the confidential test information for teachers regularly shifts locations. You can get the new link by writing the author
listing your school and teaching position. There are now additional versions of tests available.
mong the specialized sections that have recently been added are:
Digital audio considerations
Determining IE/ISO/ASA sensitivity of video cameras
Setting up color monitors
Using shadows in composition
Studio sets
Audio and video signal compression
RAM audio recording
DVD/RAM video cameras
Filters to compensate for digital video artifacts and to simulate film look
Setting up digital cameras
The zone exposure system
Special studio lights
The video signal "overshoot" problem
An Interactive Color Exercise
Broadcast Server Editing Approaches
TV and Film Makeup
HDTV-to-SDTV and SDTV-to-HDTV Conversion
Interviewing Techniques
You will find links to these additions in the modules and in the Associated Readings Index.
We've been asked about recommended video assignments. These are available here
.
lthough a great many people go through these modules on an individual basisgovernment employees, TV crew members, military personnel, etc.a great many users are in classrooms. To try to accommodate a greater range of needs, we've devised a color code for links.
A little yellow square (
) in front of link above indicates background reading. This material is not included on the interactive tests, although it may help in understanding the concepts covered.
A blue square in front of a link (
) indicates technical information. This type of information is designed for advanced classes and professionals; and, again, this may or may be required by an instructor. These areas will also be expanded in the future to meet the needs of advanced students.
A red square is reserved for (
) external links that have related information. This information is not included on the interactive tests, but an instructor has the option of asking that you read this information. CyberCollege and the InternetCampus have no control over the content or availability of these external links.
And, finally, there are the required reading links marked with a green square
(). These are covered in the interactive tests and puzzles.
Links that are not marked with a colored square are considered self-explanatory.

hese materials are now available from these independent geographically separated servers:
*This whole project is considered a collaborative effort, and it has come a long way since the first rough draft was posted almost ten years ago.
We wish to thank the many people who have written us offering suggestions and calling attention to writing errors. All of us who use these materials have a responsibility to catch errors, make suggestions, and, in general, make sure that these materials become more and more useful to all of us. Just send us an E-mail message.
The text materials and illustrations continue to be updated on a regular basis as new information is published in trades, newspapers, and on the Internet. The date at the top-right of each module indicates when the material was last updated.
In order to continue to provide these materials we have agreed to certain legal restrictions. Please see this copyright notice .
n May, 2004, Dr. Lee's materials on relationships were moved to another site. This was primarily in response to some instructors and administrators who felt it was inappropriate to provide young people with information on birth control and the control of sexual disease.
And finally, we've had problems with hackers spoofing our e-mail addresses so that people will open e-mail thinking it's from us. This is discussed here .
Just so you know, these materials are free and we aren't in the business of selling anything.
* On a personal note, for the past several years I've been involved with getting three websites started. Having completed that, I will now be able to devote more time to CyberCollege and the InternetCampus. I will be investigating several significant improvements to these sites. Suggestions are encouraged. -RW
