Dr. Whittaker, who teaches in the areas of broadcast production and mass communication, has authored several books and more than 100 articles in his field. He has served as a writer and section editor for several broadcasting 
magazines.
His professional background includes working as a newspaper reporter and columnist for two years, a TV news anchor for three years, and a producer-director for ten years.
